Affirmation of the Week
The quieter you become,
the more you can hear.

Stress Reduction Tip of the Week
Take as good care of yourself as you do your pets. Go out for a walk in the natural light to counteract seasonal affective disorder, yes you can take your pet along with you. Buy yourself some flowers in the colors that you like. Orange is the color of cheerfulness; red will give you energy. Before you agree to do something for yourself or others, please ask yourself, “How does it feel?” When you have an answer, honor your feelings! Be kind to yourself. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

Food of the Week - "Winter" Fruits
During the winter we eat a lot less fruit; ironically, fruits keep us healthier during these peak times of colds and infections. We used to hit a slump because summer fruits were not available in winter. But countries like Chile have growing seasons that are opposite ours, so we can still have cherries, blueberries, raspberries, kiwis, nectarines, peaches and plums during the winter. Cherries and berries are high in fiber, vitamin c and antioxidants. Here’s a delicious low calorie cherry-berry parfait: Layer 1 cup cherries which are sliced in half and de-pitted, 1 cup raspberries, 1 medium sliced banana, 1 cup fresh or canned pineapple, 1 cup low fat vanilla lemon yogurt, 1/3 cup chopped dates and ¼ cup chopped toasted almonds. Layer all the ingredients in 4 stemmed glasses and put a whole cherry on top. Makes 4 servings at about 200 calories each.
