Question:

My schedule has become a little more hectic and it’s chipping into my workout time. How can I have an effective workout in about 30 minutes? (Sandi, West Babylon)

Answer:
If that’s all you have, then you can make it work for you! Exercise is not an all or nothing proposition. Here are some ways to maximize your time:

  • Cut out the resting time between sets – flow from one body part to the next.
  • Cut out one set of duplicate exercises. Instead, make it two stronger sets.
  • Do superets which means working opposing muscle groups without rest.
  • Most importantly don’t cut out a body part. Do an exercise for each body part to maintain a balanced workout.
Tip: If you are at the gym, you can do an efficient and effective workout in 30 minutes by not socializing!

It’s not how long you have; it’s what you do with the time you have.
