Question:
My training is moving along fine. But recently I’ve taken a no-nonsense approach to my abs. You hear so many opinions as to how to do abs. Is there any ideal sequence in working the abdominals? (Sheldon from Douglaston)

Answer:
Some people would have you believe that there is an ideal sequence especially if they wanted you to buy their product. However, research has proven that your body is always trying to respond and adapt to a stimulus. A set sequence over and over would let the body respond and adapt making this plan ineffective over time. The key to resistance training is variety.

Challenge your abdominals with:

  • New exercises
  • Repetitions and sets
  • Sequence
  • Resistance
  • Speed of Movement

Remember to make each repetition count; no momentum
